Free and Sober™ keeps your sober day count for you, every morning, without you doing the math. Your current days and your total days sit side by side. Your milestones, your plans and the day your Time Capsule opens all live on one private calendar. It works for alcohol, drugs or anything else you're leaving behind.
Want your number right now? The sobriety calculator works it out in a second, with no sign-up.
If a count resets to zero after a slip, it can feel like everything went with it.
Free and Sober™ counts two ways:
A slip starts a new current count. It doesn't erase your total. The days you built still happened, and the app keeps them. If you've had a slip recently, the next 24 hours is a good place to start.
Your counter marks milestones including: 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days, 60 and 90 days, 6 and 9 months, a year, 18 months and every year after that. When you reach one, the app notices. If you've told the app your reasons, you'll hear them again on milestone days.
Sober for years already? Bring your full count and every milestone you've earned. You don't have to start at day one to use the app.
The calendar shows your sober days since your start date, with your milestones on the same month. You can also add the things that make a week work:
Reminders are written so they don't name what they're for. A lock-screen notification is designed not to explain why it's there. On your home screen, the app shows as "F&S."
Next to your days, the app adds up the money you haven't spent since your start date. Some people find that the number that keeps them going isn't the day count at all. It's the trip they paid for or the bills that got easier. Both are on every plan.
Counting days turns "never again" into "today." Some people check their number every morning, and some only look on milestone days. Either way is fine. Counting is a tool, not a test. We wrote more about this in why counting days helps, and what happens if you reset.
The counter is on your home screen, next to a daily line and a one-tap check-in: good, okay or hard. Everything else is a tap or two away:

What's the difference between a sobriety calculator and a sober day counter?
A calculator works out your time once, from a date you enter. A sober day counter does the same math every day, so the number grows on its own. Try the sobriety calculator now, and let the app keep counting after that.
Does a slip reset everything?
No. A slip starts a new current count, and your total days stay.
Does it work for drugs, not just alcohol?
Yes. Free and Sober™ counts days, not drinks, so it works for any substance.
